Hamilton Mennonite Church has enjoyed testing out some new (to us) music and worship resources over the past year as we anticipate the completion of Voices Together, a new hymnal to be shared by Mennonite Church Canada and Mennonite Church USA.
Maybe you remember singing Solemn Stillness, Weary Streets last Christmas, To my Precious Lord during Lent, or All Who are Thirsty this summer. Our kids led us in Sanna, Sannanina on Palm Sunday, and our youth and others connected pretty quickly with I will Sing with You.
Early this year we even explored a 4-week worship series on how singing together forms us as the body of Christ, and what a new Mennonite hymnal has to do with that. You can listen to that series of sermons here.
Voices Together is expected to be ready in Fall 2020, and the time has come for us to order our new hymnals! If you have some questions about the new hymnals, check out their FAQ page here. If you want to see what we're ordering as a church, or think about ordering your own editions, check out the product page here. HMC Worship Committee is planning an order including 2 accompaniment editions, 2 large print editions, and 6 worship leader editions (besides a full set of pew editions), and the HMC a/v team is excited about getting the projection edition.
Update: We have already raised the whole $4500 needed to buy our congregational set of Voices Together! Thank you to everyone who generously gave financial gifts that will energize our worship and connect us to a bigger family of faith. Sing to the Lord a new song, an old favourite song, a heartfelt song, all the songs! How can we keep from singing?
Thank you!!
