Around Remembrance Day, many Mennonites start wearing red "To remember is to work for peace" buttons, sometimes with, and sometimes in place of, a poppy. The buttons are a reminder to us that we believe that as followers of Jesus, we are called to be people of peace. We also hope that the buttons invite conversation about how our remembering of victims of war might inspire our living as peacemakers. We reflect on this peacemaking calling on Peace Sunday, following the guidance of Mennonite Central Committee as they provide us with prayers and other resources. This Sunday November 12, we will be Praying for Peace, and MCC has great resources available all year round, as we remember and work for peace.
