Every Advent season we have a special Advent Giving Project. The children help collect it and for every bit donated, we get to decorate our Christmas tree a little bit more! This year's Advent Giving Project addresses an urgent need in our own province.
*NEW* A detailed powerpoint presentation given at the MCC Ontario annual fall gathering is now available to view and download here.
Pikangikum First Nation is an isolated community in northwestern Ontario with 3,000 members living in 450 homes. Only 50 homes have water running inside for drinking and sanitation. MCC, in partnership with Assembly of First Nations and Habitat for Humanity, will work in the coming year to retrofit 20 more homes with sinks, tubs and toilets, and the water and sewage to make it all work. This will assist the most vulnerable families in the community.
$25 donation = One ornament on the HMC Christmas tree
